Want to get a head start on your basketball fundraising calendar with some unique and exciting ideas that will get everyone up on their feet?  A “Shoot for the Hoop” fundraiser is the perfect activity!

Here’s how it works:

You can hold this event before a game, after a game, at halftime, or between games at a tournament.

Fans can “buy a shot” at a set amount for a chance to win a grand prize.  The prize can be cash, or a gift item donated by a local business.  A great idea to get donors is to offer to advertise the business at your game as your official sponsor.  It’s a great opportunity for businesses to get some good exposure, and many will be excited for the chance to be a part of your event.  Since the prize will be a main attraction for this event, it’s a good idea to start looking for donors early.

To kick off this activity, participating fans shoot from the three-point line to make a basket.  Everyone who makes a basket then goes on to the next round.  In the next round, they each take a shot, and everyone who makes it that time moves on again (if no one makes a basket, have everyone go a second round).  Repeat until you have a winner!

Another idea is to have this event at every game where participants have the chance to win a small prize like a coupon for a free pizza, or movie rental.
