Education Grants Website Attacked Print E-mail
One of the most comprehensive education grants websites, GrantsAlert.com, has been attacked by unscrupulous hackers, and needs your help to rebuild.

With the impact of cuts to education funding over several years,  grants and fundraising have become essential for the continuation of programs and activities for schools. Now more than ever, many of the important activities that you and I took for granted as a basic part of our schooling are now considered luxuries, requiring the diligent chasing of funds from multiple sources.

GrantsAlert.com is a website that posts constant updates of available grants for schools and educational projects. For years, our friend and colleague Joe Mizereck has dedicated his free time to making a site that is easy for educators to use, and most importantly, at no cost. The site was recently hacked, and unfortunately, everything was lost. Joe is one of the most humble and hard-working people I have ever come across, trying to help educators across the country meet the needs of their students. Nobody deserves to have their site hacked, but I was really shocked to hear about this.

With over 7,000 current grant listings, and growing every day, GrantsAlert.com is one of the most comprehensive listings of education grants, and unlike some other sites, is completely free for educators to use. With such an extensive listing, many schools and school districts including Miami-Dade schools, Polk County schools, AIM, Saint Paul Schools, Premier, and several others are hooked up to GrantsAlert.com to provide grant listings on their own sites, along with important education sites such as EdWeek.org

Urgent emails and calls have flooded in from regular visitors to the site who rely completely on this resource for grant listings. The site has to be completely rebuilt, at a cost of approximately $5,000.

If you have ever used free grant listings, you may wish to make a contribution to this effort. Every dollar will help in getting this important resource back up as quickly as possible.

You can read the letter that was sent to all GrantsAlert.com users here to find out how you can help.

More information will be posted as we get news about the rebuilding of the site. Knowing how much work it is to build and maintain a website, we wish Joe all the best in getting back up and running.

Feel free to contact Joe or USA Fundraising for more information or to share your comments. You can also follow @usafundraising on Twitter for updates on the progress of the site rebuild.
